Western Rustic Chickens

We raise our meat chickens and turkeys in portable field shelters.  When the chicks are big enough we move them into these shelters that have no floor. These shelters protect the birds from predators while allowing them access to fresh daily pasture. Our chickens love eating grass, all sorts of green matter and bugs. Their lives are filled with fresh food, fresh air and sunshine! They are also given a free choice GMO-free, chemical free feed. They are never given anti-antibiotics or hormones.  They have unlimited fresh mountain spring water to quench their thirst. By moving the birds everyday, they also provide valuable fertilizer to our land without the use of any equipment or chemicals.

We have decided to only raise Western Rustic broilers and Orlopp Broad Breasted Bronze Turkeys. These heritage style breeds cost more to purchase and take 25% longer to grow but their hardiness and flavour worth it in our opinion.  There is a premium for them, but the meat is noted for it fine quality and healthy qualities.
